some periods of ancient Chinese history, it was discouraged to eat beef,
because cattle were needed to help plow the fields. But wild game was
always a welcome addition to the planted crops. The Chinese ate fish,
duck, turtle, and other wild animals. A little meat or fish was served
with a great many vegetables. It was a healthy diet.
